Organized by the Municipality of Tripoli and the Social Cooperative Enterprise “5ENTE”

- Wednesday, December 11, 2019
- Start time: 15:00 | End time: 17:00
Rhythm is everywhere in our lives — even from the moment we are born!
Our heartbeat is the first rhythmic pattern that defines us. All around us, rhythmic motifs dominate our environment, often without us even realizing it.
And all around us are also objects — seemingly useless at first glance — that can be transformed into musical instruments!
This Christmas, we invite you to combine all these elements in a unique experience of artistic creation and musical expression that will delight children and enchant adults alike.
- Event Highlights:
Part 1: Create Your Own Percussion Instrument
Children will build percussion instruments using “trash” materials (e.g. soda cans, bottle caps, cardboard boxes) and natural elements (e.g. wood, seeds). Techniques such as papier-mâché and painting will be used to turn waste into sound!
This part of the workshop introduces eco-friendly crafting methods that promote creative reuse and sustainability.
All materials will be provided by the organizers.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own recyclable items they wish to transform into instruments.
Part 2: Introduction to Rhythm
An interactive music session will follow, where experienced educators and musicians will introduce participants to basic rhythmic patterns and drumming techniques.
Rhythmic Street Parade:
The event will conclude with a musical parade through the streets of Tripoli, a joyful rhythmic procession of children and families, leading everyone to Petrinou Square for the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree — the highlight of the season!
